Morning Bike Ride

Passing this field this morning on my bicycle felt different than passing it every other day by car. I stopped for a moment to look. A big field where sheep used to live in the ramshackle old barn with the roof fallen in. The tall swaying brown grass. The only sound was of some type of gentle songbird that I have not stopped to hear since early spring.
It could have been any moment in time.
Elizabeth Bennett could have walked by with a book and a smirk.
I stopped for a moment here, and then I went on my way - but it's one of those moments that I stopped long enough to have, and will likely always remember.
